Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhani

DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the state government is planning to double the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Uttarakhand in the next five years.

The CM revealed his plans while attending the meeting of Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled states in New Delhi on Sunday.

“We aim to double the state’s gross domestic product in the upcoming 5 years through a 15 per cent growth rate per year. In this financial year, capital expenditure increased by 13 per cent to 17 per cent relative to the last year’s budget. As a result of this increase, the state has achieved the target of 4 per cent of the state’s GDP” said the CM.

The CM also said that basic infrastructure is being built and upgraded with investment and expenditure of over Rs 25,000 crores in the next 5 years.

Apart from this, the state’s ‘Speed Power Master Plan’ is also being prepared following the ‘PM Speed power Scheme’ (PM GatiShakti) to achieve coordination between different departments to pace up the development projects across the hill state.

The plan also envisions achieving the ambitious economic objectives through thrust sectors like tourism, transportation, service sector, agriculture, pharma and others.

“Railway line projects for Rishikesh-Karnprayag and Tankpur-Bageshwar are being run at a fast pace to get completed on time. A single window system is already in place to grant quick approvals from several departments playing a major role in investment flow in the state,” said the CM.

The Chief Minister said that the annual plan of each department has been prepared for the successful operations and projects of various schemes in the state and for regular monitoring of each department, which is being reviewed at a higher level of the government.
