NOIDA: He never shied away from flaunting his ‘political connections’. But Shrikant Tyagi surely shied away from the police after abusing and harassing a woman in Noida.

Tyagi, whose video of harassing a women resident over the issue of encroachment at the Grand Omaxe Society in sector 93 went viral, is eluding the police that has registered two FIRs against him. The Noida Police also formed seven teams that are conducting raids at various locations in the National Capital Region.

Sources told The New Indian that Tyagi, 37, is a native of Ghaziabad’s Modinagar. He came in contact with some senior politicians during his stay in Lucknow. It was these contacts that Tyagi would often brag about.

Sources also said that Tyagi, who lived at Grand Omaxe Society with his wife and two sons, would often threaten the residents citing his ‘contacts’ with politicians.

On August 5, a video surfaced in which he was seen abusing a woman over an issue of encroaching on the common garden area. The mobile video was widely circulated on social media after which Noida police took cognisance and initiated action.

The police, so far, had registered two First Information Reports (FIRs) against Tyagi. One FIR is registered by the Phase 2 police station under sections of molestation and assault (section 447, 423, 504, 506 and 354 of the IPC) on the complaint of the woman. It has been registered at the Phase 2 police station.

The second FIR is of cheating and forgery (section 419, 420 and 482 of the IPC) related to using the Uttar Pradesh government’s sticker on his vehicle.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ranvijay Singh said that Tyagi’s wife and other employees have been questioned. Singh also said that raids were conducted at the possible hideouts of Tyagi.

“We never gave any security to him but we might be having private security personnel. We are inquiring about the matter in detail,” Singh said.

The police on Saturday seized Tyagi’s three luxury vehicles which include Toyota Fortuner and Tata Safari. The government stickers were found to be pasted on his vehicles.

The matter also took a political twist after his photographs with various political leaders from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) became viral on social media. His Facebook account is filled with his photographs with party leaders.

It is learnt that Tyagi called himself a national executive member of BJP’s Kisan Morcha and national coordinator of Yuva Kisan Samiti.

Refuting the reports, BJP MP from Gautambuddh Nagar, Mahesh Sharma, said, “Tyagi was never a member of BJP. The way he misbehaved with the woman can never be accepted.”

Sharma also visited the society and met the victim woman. He assured the people of the society that Tyagi will be arrested within 48 hours.

Meanwhile, Police, during the investigation, found that Tyagi was a repeat offender. In 2019, he slapped an elderly man over a minor issue.
