Two sister shot dead in Delhi’s RK Puram

NEW DELHI: In a deeply unsettling incident that once again highlights the pressing issue of women’s safety, two sisters were brutally shot dead by assailants who had intended to target their brother in the RK Puram area of Southwest Delhi. The swift response of the police led to the apprehension of the attackers shortly after the heinous act.

A Delhi Police officer revealed that the arrested individuals, identified as Arjun, Micheal and Dev, had a longstanding monetary dispute with the victims’ brother, who himself is an accused in a robbery case. Investigations are currently underway to gather more information and ascertain the complete sequence of events.

As the women emerged from their houses, a heated argument ensued between them and the assailants. In a shocking turn of events, the attackers swiftly drew their weapons and opened fire on the sisters, causing grievous injuries.

Tragically, despite immediate medical attention, the two sisters, Pinky (30) and Jyoti (29), succumbed to their wounds during treatment at Safdarjung Hospital. The entire episode was captured on a mobile phone by an onlooker, adding a haunting layer of evidence to the investigation.

The incident has left the community in shock and raised serious concerns about the safety and security of women in the city. Authorities have assured the public that they are fully committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring that such heinous acts do not go unpunished.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed his condolences to the grieving families, tweeting, “Our thoughts are with the families of both women.

May their souls rest in peace.” Kejriwal also voiced his concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi, emphasizing the need for stronger measures to ensure the safety of its residents.
