NEW DELHI: Microblogging site X, experienced a widespread global outage on Thursday morning, leaving users unable to view posts on the microblogging platform.
While the website and apps remained accessible, all tabs, including Following, For You, and Lists, displayed empty content.
Users on X, formerly known as Twitter, were unable to view posts on the social media site with a message that said, “Welcome to X!” The outage, affecting users globally, sparked the trending hashtag #TwitterDown, highlighting the scale of the issue.

As of now, the duration of the outage remains uncertain, and users continue to face difficulties in accessing tweets. The problem seems to be limited to the visibility of tweets, as users can still create and post tweets, despite them not being visible to others.
This incident follows a series of technical challenges for X, notably on December 14, when all outgoing links suddenly ceased to function. The issue was attributed to a malfunction in the URL redirect function, preventing users from reaching their intended destinations. In March and July of the same year, X experienced disruptions, with thousands of instances recorded on Downdetector in July alone.
During the current outage, both the main X platform and its Pro version (formerly TweetDeck) encountered issues. Users faced loading problems, with messages such as “Waiting for posts” on X Pro.
X has yet to provide official information on the cause of the outage or an estimated time for resolution. Users are advised to stay tuned for updates as the social media giant works to address the issue. Meanwhile, #TwitterDown continues to trend as users grapple with the disruption in service.
