TV Anchor alleges Air India prioritized cricket team over passengers

New Delhi: Television anchor Sumanth Raman has alleged in a post on social media platform X that Air India cancelled a scheduled flight from New York to Delhi (AI106) and diverted the aircraft to Bridgetown to transport the Indian Cricket team, leaving passengers stranded.

Raman expressed his disbelief at the airline’s decision, questioning the fairness of prioritizing the cricket team’s travel over paying passengers. The post has sparked outrage and debate on social media, with many calling for greater accountability from the national carrier.

When someone called him a liar on his post he called him a moron.

“BCCI arranged a chartered flight with insignia AIC24WC that flew from NewJersey to hurricane hit Barbados that will bring back not only players but some stranded journos also,” a user named Kanhabansri questioned the journo.

“You moron, that aircraft was supposed to return from Newark to Delhi as AI106. They cancelled that flight and sent the aircraft to Bridgetown,” the anchor replied to a user.

Air India has yet to issue an official statement responding to the allegation. The incident has raised questions about the airline’s priorities and customer service. Passengers affected by the cancellation are demanding answers and compensation for the inconvenience caused.
