NEW DELHI: Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) election results were announced, on November 25, with Rounak Khatri from NSUI emerging as the President. Students from the Law Faculty expressed satisfaction with the outcome, highlighting Khatri’s groundwork and dedication to resolving campus issues.
Priti and Muskaan, LLB students from Law Centre 1, shared their views with The New Indian, “We support Rounak Khatri because he has worked tirelessly to address problems like water scarcity. As our senior, he understands the issues at the grassroots level. We hope he prioritizes installing more lights in the area to enhance safety.”
Students from Law Centre 2, Yash Raj Tyagi and Prikshit Yadav, also praised NSUI’s performance. “NSUI performed better this time because of their consistent efforts on the ground, which translated into this victory,” Yash remarked. Prikshit added, “Truth and struggles triumph. NSUI candidates have worked hard to achieve this win. After 2017, it’s significant that NSUI has their president again. The gap in elections due to COVID-19 delayed this moment, but their perseverance paid off.”
Prikshit further emphasized the role of political influence in university elections and called for accountability. “Political parties play a crucial role in shaping these outcomes, but as students, we want the elected candidates to honour their promises. Manifestos should not just be words; we need actions. Initiatives like shuttle bus services for students and the continuation of work on the student centre are essential,” he stated.
This election marks a turning point for NSUI, reigniting their leadership in DUSU after a seven-year gap. As students celebrate their victory, they also look forward to tangible improvements in campus facilities and safety under Khatri’s leadership.
