NEW DELHI: In an unprecedented move, President Donald Trump has prepared over 200 executive orders to be signed on his first day back in office, marking an aggressive start to his new term. The sweeping changes aim to reshape key areas of U.S. policy, including immigration, energy, and federal employment, signaling a dramatic reversal of his predecessor’s initiatives.

One of the most prominent measures is the re-declaration of a national emergency at the southern border. This order will pave the way for stricter immigration controls and enhanced border security, including the revival of the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy, which mandates asylum seekers to wait outside U.S. borders while their claims are processed. Trump is also expected to officially designate drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, empowering federal agencies to take more robust action against transnational criminal networks.

In the energy sector, Trump plans to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Accord, a decision intended to promote domestic energy production and reduce federal regulations on fossil fuels. This move is expected to reignite debates on balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility.

Other orders will target federal employment practices, with the President expected to reinstate merit-based hiring policies and eliminate certain diversity training requirements introduced under the previous administration.Trump’s bold agenda reflects his campaign promise of making America “greater than ever” and restoring what he calls “American sovereignty.”

However, the sweeping changes are already drawing sharp criticism from opponents, who argue that these policies could undermine global alliances and exacerbate climate challenges. As the U.S. braces for a transformative period, Trump’s first-day actions will set the tone for the next chapter in American governance, with significant domestic and international implications.
