Trump wants strong business ties with India, we’re backing him: US Indian Sikh billionaire

NEW DELHI: In a recent interview with The New Indian, Wisconsin-based billionaire Darshan Dhaliwal has rallied behind former US president Donald Trump, saying most members of the Indian community want to see him as the next president of the United States.

With elections less than ten days away, Dhaliwal’s endorsement highlights the growing trend of public figures openly sharing their political preferences, a contrast to the more discreet political discourse often seen in India.

“Yes, I would definitely want to see Trump as president,” Dhaliwal stated decisively. His enthusiasm reflects a broader cultural difference, as he noted, “In the U.S., civilians are very open about their political preferences. Whether it’s Elon Musk supporting Donald Trump or someone else backing Kamala Harris, they aren’t shy about it.”

This openness contrasts sharply with India, where many people tend to be more reserved about discussing their political affiliations.

When asked why he supports Trump, Dhaliwal emphasized the former president’s commitment to the country. “Years ago, America was considered the leader of the world. Now, we’d like to see that leadership restored. On top of that, Trump has a very good relationship with India,” he explained.

Dhaliwal believes that Trump’s strong ties with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi further enhance the potential for positive relations between the two nations. “A businessman backing a businessman,” he quipped, highlighting how both leaders understand the intricacies of business and governance.

While Dhaliwal’s support for Trump is clear, he also acknowledged his positive relationships with Democrats in the past. This nuanced view suggests that, while he favours Trump, he appreciates the importance of bipartisanship in addressing the challenges facing the U.S. and its relationship with India.

As the elections draw closer, Dhaliwal’s outspoken support for Trump underscores a significant moment in political discourse, illustrating how influential figures can shape public opinion and encourage open conversations about leadership and policy in both the U.S. and India.

Darshan Dhaliwal’s Bush Connection

Darshan Dhaliwal has notable connections within political circles, particularly with members of the Bush family. He has been known to socialize and build relationships with prominent figures in the Republican Party, including former President George W. Bush.

Dhaliwal’s engagement in political and philanthropic activities has allowed him to cultivate these connections, which he often views as instrumental in his business ventures and community initiatives.

His ties to the Bush family also reflect his involvement in various charitable activities, aligning with the family’s philanthropic focus. This network has helped Dhaliwal navigate both the business landscape and the political arena, allowing him to foster partnerships that benefit his interests and community initiatives.
