NEW DELHI: US President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump hosted an intimate Thanksgiving dinner at Mar-a-Lago, their exclusive Florida estate, on Saturday night. Joined by their youngest son, Barron Trump, and Melania’s father, Viktor Knavs, the gathering offered a rare glimpse into the personal life of the First Family.

The President, dressed in a navy blue suit with a blue tie, was seated next to Barron, who was also sharply dressed in a suit. Melania Trump looked radiant in an all-white ensemble as she mingled with family and members of the club.

The dinner drew attention online, sparking excitement among supporters. Hashtags like #MAGA and #Trump2024 began trending on X, as fans shared snapshots and clips from the evening. Michael Solakiewicz, a supporter, posted a video of the gathering, calling it a “true American Thanksgiving.”

The evening marked one of the few public appearances by Barron Trump since the election watch party. Currently a freshman at New York University’s Stern School of Business, Barron is expected to return to his studies after the holiday break.

Melania Trump, meanwhile, is reportedly maintaining a more private role during this presidential term. She plans to split her time between Florida and Manhattan, with only occasional visits to the White House.

The dinner served as a reminder of the Trumps’ close family bond and the significance of Mar-a-Lago as both a retreat and a hub of activity for the First Family during their time in office.

Thanksgiving is a cherished holiday celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada, where families and friends gather to express gratitude for the blessings of the past year. In the U.S., it is observed on the fourth Thursday of November, while in Canada, it falls on the second Monday of October.

The holiday traces its origins to early colonial times, particularly the 1621 feast shared by the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Native Americans, marking a successful harvest. Traditional Thanksgiving meals typically include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Beyond the feast, the day is often marked by parades, football games, and a spirit of giving thanks, making it a time for reflection, togetherness, and appreciation.
