NEW DELHI: The Indian Army is currently conducting the tri-services exercise Ex Poorvi Prahar in the forward areas of Arunachal Pradesh from 10th to 18th November 2024. This high-intensity, joint military drill aims to enhance the operational readiness of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force while executing Integrated Joint Operations in the region’s rugged, mountainous terrain.

 

The exercise brings together cutting-edge military platforms, showcasing India’s advancements in modern warfare. Forces from all three services are utilizing advanced fighter aircraft, reconnaissance platforms, and helicopters, including the Chinook and Advanced Light Helicopter (Rudra). Additionally, the M777 Ultra-Light Howitzers, newly inducted into artillery units, are providing enhanced mobility, firepower, and precision in the challenging topography.

A standout feature of Ex Poorvi Prahar is the integration of next-generation technologies. Troops are engaging with Swarm Drones, First Person View (FPV) Drones, and Loitering Munitions. These technologies are playing a crucial role in improving situational awareness, enabling precise strikes, and offering greater operational flexibility. The use of such advanced tools highlights the military’s ongoing efforts to integrate modern technologies into operations and enhance defence capabilities.

 

The exercise also focuses on the integration of technology in multi-service operations. A key component of the drill is the creation of a Common Operating Picture (COP), which is being developed through joint command structures that facilitate coordination between the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Real-time information is seamlessly shared through satellite communication systems powered by AI-driven analytics, which enhances decision-making and response times.
