TRF arms recovery case: J&K SIU attaches four houses

SIU of Srinagar Police attaches four houses in Srinagar district for providing shelter and harbouring terrorists

Special Investigation Unit (SIU-II), Srinagar on Monday, February 27, attached four residential houses for providing shelter to terrorists.

Three of the houses are located in Barthana Qamarwari, while another is located in Srinagar’s Sangam Eidgah.

The orders were issued in the exercise of the power conferred under Section 25 read with 2 (g) (iii) Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The information on the attachment of properties was submitted to the designated authority.

The residential houses belonged to Shaheena and Asif Nath, Altaf Ahmed Dar and Mudasir Ahmed Mir, all from Barthena Qamerwari, and Abdul Rehman Bhat, from Sangam Eidgah. They were attached in the presence of Executive Magistrates and other witnesses.

The team on the spot directed the concerned authorities that there should be no alteration or otherwise to the attached properties without the prior permission of the designated authority.

It is pertinent to mention that police station Parimpora registered a case on May 28, 2022, after receiving reliable information. During the investigation, a module was found to be involved in hiding and providing logistical support to active terrorists of the The Resistance Front (TRF)/ Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit. Further investigation into the case resulted in the arrest of those involved.

During the investigation, it was also discovered that the terrorists were given shelter in the aforementioned residential buildings.

During the investigation, under Sections 24/25 UAPA was initiated. Later, a proper accord of approval for the attachment of houses was received.

Besides, the charge sheet of the case was presented before the court on December 2, 2022, against 13 accused persons, including active terrorists of TRF/LeT for logical judicial determination. The investigation of the said case is still going on.

The authorities also warned citizens not to provide terrorists with shelter or logistics, failing which the law will take its course, according to the police.
