NEW DELHI: Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, attacked the Union government for the Tiranga Bike Rally, claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is pushing its political activity using a government function.
“We will take part in our events. They are using a government programme to do their political activity,” Chowdhury said.
Chowdhury attacked the government for raids by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at the offices of the National Herald, saying the raids on the offices of the National Herald, a newspaper that fought for the country’s independence, revealed the BJP’s double standards.
“They claim to be patriotic but are doing injustice and cruelty on a newspaper which was established to fight for the country’s freedom,” he said.
He added, “Everyone knows what kind of a patriotic person they are.”
The Union culture ministry organised a Tiranga Bike Rally in Delhi on Wednesday morning. The rally was flagged off by Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu.
Union parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi had said that it was a non-political event and the Vice-President was on the stage to flag it off.
Chowdhury also said that they keep about talking Aatmanirbharta all the time and are importing flags from China.
“Prime minister Narendra Modi talks about Gandhi all the time and is working to finish off khadi. They have changed the flag code and are importing flags from China which is hurting small manufacturers,” he said.
