NEW DELHI: In a significant development, the Wildlife Trust of India team has successfully tracked a tiger that has been roaming the outskirts of Rehmankhera for the past two weeks. The tiger was captured on a camera trap installed near the Rehmankhera control room between 4 AM and 5 AM on Friday which confirmed the presence of the big cat. Additionally, tiger pug marks were found near a drain close to Gram Mandoli around 9:30 AM, matching earlier sightings in the area.
The District Forest Officer of Lucknow reviewed the camera trap footage to assess the situation further. As the day progressed, the presence of the tiger was further confirmed within the boundary wall near the railway line at Rehmankhera Farm. By 4:30 PM, additional sightings were reported from nearby villages including Khalispur, Mithenagar, Sahilamau, Mandouli, and Ularapur.

Forest officials have alerted residents to take preventative measures as the tiger continues to move in collaboration with village heads. The forest staff has cordoned off the area around the railway line to trap the tiger. Veterinary doctors from Kanpur Zoo have been brought in to assist in the rescue operation and forest department teams from Sitapur and Lakhimpur Kheri have also joined the search efforts.
The tiger’s movements are being closely monitored using camera traps and thermal drone cameras. Early Thursday morning, forest department officials found tiger pug marks at multiple locations in the area including Sahilapur village and further along the Behta Nala towards Rehmankhera.
