NUH, HARYANA: Four days after the communal violence in Nuh that claimed four lives and injured 50 people, the government has formed three separate SITs (Special Investigation Teams) to investigate cases of rioting, murder, and provocation on social media.

At least 21 companies of Haryana Police are regularly patrolling the area, and 14 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed in sensitive areas of Nuh.
Curfew was imposed in Nuh district on July 31 night, and internet services have been suspended until August 5.
According to SP (Nuh) Varun Singla, “No fresh violence has been reported in the last 24 hours. A sense of normalcy is returning, but we are maintaining a 24-hour vigil.”
The communal clashes broke out after stone-pelting on a “Shobha Yatra” organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Nalhar village of Nuh on July 31.
Over 100 vehicles, including government and police vehicles, were set on fire, and many people were attacked in the district. Shops were also vandalized and set on fire in some places.
Police officers said that three of the 45 FIRs are related to provocation on social media, and one FIR is related to a bike that was set on fire.
At least eight teams of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and the Special Task Force (STF) have been deployed to nab the rioters.
“We are also collecting mobile recordings and CCTV recordings to identify the accused persons involved in the rioting and stone-pelting,” said Singla, adding that video analytics have also been done.
Today, a total of 42 accused were produced before the court, out of which 23 were sent to judicial custody and 19 were sent to police custody. All three SITs are further investigating the case.
