Kochi blast: Nadda in Kerala, slams Pinarayi for harbouring radicals

NEW DELHI: The political landscape in Kerala has heated up as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda delivered a blistering critique of the state’s Left government on Monday. This condemnation came in the wake of a deadly bomb blast in Kerala that left three people dead and several others injured.

JP Nadda, addressing the recent tragic incident, not only expressed his unequivocal condemnation but also raised serious concerns about the alleged leniency of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s government towards radical elements.

During his visit, Nadda reminisced about his earlier warnings, “I was here in July 2022, and I made a statement that this government is soft towards radical forces. I said that they are trying to mislead the people of Kerala, and at the same time, the radical forces are on the rise, and there is silent convenience, which gives the space to the radicals to go forward.”

Nadda, who had previously warned about this soft stance towards radicalism, believes that it has created an environment where incidents like the recent bomb blast in Kerala have become increasingly common. “The bomb blast that took place is to be condemned by one and all,” he stressed during his address. His words underscored the urgency of addressing the situation.

Furthermore, Nadda did not shy away from accusing the Left government of being a ‘silent spectator’ when a leader of Hamas addressed a virtual meeting in Kerala. He said, “A few days back, a leader of Hamas joined virtually here, openly discussing Hamas. This government was a silent spectator. What does it mean? You are bringing a bad name to the ‘God’s Own Country,’ Kerala. Will you allow this to continue?”

Nadda went on to suggest that the gravity of the recent bomb blast was being downplayed, and he urged the government to reveal the truth behind it. “Why is it happening that bomb blast incidents are being underplayed, and the details are not coming out on the surface?” Nadda questioned, adding that such actions were undermining the safety of the state.

While criticising the Left government’s approach, Nadda called for an independent inquiry into the recent events. He stated, “Let an independent inquiry take place. The government of India is in full support of that inquiry and will provide all necessary assistance. But, Mr. Pinarayi, delve into the depth of it and see how your soft stance and underplaying with radicals have brought the situation to the point where bomb blasts are now taking place in ‘God’s Own Country.'”

The confrontation between the BJP and the Left government in Kerala has intensified in the aftermath of the bomb blast, as the state grapples with the security and political ramifications of the incident. It remains to be seen how the Kerala government will respond to these allegations and whether an independent inquiry will be launched to uncover the truth behind the recent tragedies.
