SRINAGAR: The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued orders on Friday appointing Rashmi Ranjan Swain as the In charge Director General of Police for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Swain, who currently serves as the Special Director General of Police for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in J&K, will also retain his responsibilities as Special DGP for CID J&K until further notice.
This appointment comes in anticipation of the upcoming retirement of the incumbent DGP, Dilbag Singh, scheduled for October 31.
Rashmi Ranjan Swain, a 1991 batch officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS), boasts an impressive 32-year career in various capacities.
Dilbag Singh, the present Director General of Police, is set to retire after having served since September 2018. He was appointed to the Indian Police Service on December 15, 1987.
