CHENNAI: The long-awaited moment has arrived for millions of Rajini fans worldwide, as ‘Jailer’, the highly anticipated movie, graces the silver screen today (August 10). True to tradition, the fervor of Rajini devotees has reached its zenith, igniting scenes of excitement outside theatres across South India.

Dedicated fans burst crackers, play traditional dhol drums, and dance exuberantly on the streets to the tunes of the iconic songs from the superstar’s blockbuster films.

Initial reviews following the debut show have bestowed a resounding ‘Thumbs-up’, signaling a triumphant return for the 72-year-old superstar and a revival of the Tamil film industry.

At dawn, numerous admirers of the cinematic legend thronged cinema halls, some even displaying exuberant enthusiasm by energetically pushing through the doors to secure their seats.

Yasuda Hidetoshi, a Rajinikanth fan club leader who journeyed all the way from Japan with his wife to witness ‘Jailer’, shared his thoughts, “We came from Japan to Chennai to see the ‘Jailer’ movie. It was an incredible experience for us. The movie was outstanding.”

Enthusiastic fans who spoke to The New Indian after the early show in Kochi expressed their anticipation for a remarkable success story.

Vipin Lal, a student from Ernakulam who attended the first day-first show, raved, “I am not exaggerating when I say that the movie encompassed all the elements of a complete entertainer. Rajini sir, Mohanlal, the background music, and the climax were all mind-blowing.”

Following the early morning screening, the film has garnered remarkable acclaim from entertainment channels, vloggers, and YouTubers. Social media platforms have been inundated with messages from fans across the nation, with many lauding the climax as the pinnacle of Indian cinema and celebrating Rajinikanth’s triumphant comeback after an extended hiatus.

Numerous fans have taken to social media to express their thorough enjoyment of Nelson Dileep Kumar’s directorial masterpiece, describing it as one of the best Rajinikanth films in recent memory.

Spanning an impressive 900 theatres across Tamil Nadu, ‘Jailer’, helmed by Nelson Dilip Kumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, features an ensemble cast including Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vinayakan, and Yogi Babu, alongside Rajinikanth. The musical score is composed by Anirudh Ravichandran.

Prior to its release, ‘Jailer’ has already amassed a remarkable pre-booking total of ₹14.18 crore in India. The Tamil version of the film has achieved revenue of ₹12.82 crore through the sale of 5,91,221 tickets, while the Telugu variant has secured ₹1.35 crore in advance bookings from the sale of 77,554 tickets. This culminates in a grand total of 6,68,775 tickets being eagerly grabbed by eager audiences.
