Texas,USA: Swapan Dhairyawan, a Texas-based Chartered Accountant (CPA) of Indian origin, speaking to The New Indian recently shared insights into his professional achievements and personal preferences. Despite his impressive success in the U.S., where he has built a career as a distinguished financial expert and grassroots political influencer, Dhairyawan’s heart remains firmly tied to his roots in Mumbai, particularly its iconic street food.

When asked about his favourite indulgence, Dhairyawan chose Mumbai’s beloved pani puri over Texas sheet cake without hesitation. “Pani puri, of course! No matter how successful or settled I am here in Texas, there’s nothing that matches the joy of relishing a plate of pani puri on the streets of Mumbai,” he said with a laugh, reflecting his deep connection to the city where he grew up.

Dhairyawan’s journey from Mumbai to becoming a millionaire CPA in Texas is nothing short of inspiring. After moving to the U.S. in 1999, he steadily climbed the ranks in the financial industry, carving a niche in forensic accounting and consultancy. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he has also made his mark in politics, actively supporting the Republican Party and contributing to its victories in Texas, particularly during Donald Trump’s campaigns.

Despite his success, Dhairyawan remains grounded. “Growing up in Mumbai shaped who I am today. Those years taught me resilience, the value of community, and, of course, how to enjoy life’s simplest pleasures, like pani puri,” he shared.

During the interview, Dhairyawan also gave his perspectives on the shifting political inclinations of the Indian-American community and his role in fostering these changes. Yet, it was Dhairyawan’s fondness for his roots and his candid remarks about missing Mumbai’s vibrant street culture that resonated the most.

While he continues to thrive in Texas, it’s clear that for Swapan Dhairyawan, no amount of professional success can replace the simple joy of savouring Mumbai’s pani puri.
