JAMMU: Security forces uncovered a terrorist hideout deep within a forested region of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the seizure of a pistol and a cache of ammunition, officials reported on Sunday.

The concealed shelter was discovered during a coordinated combing operation carried out by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the local police and the Army in the Bhalra forest region of Bhaderwah on Saturday, officials stated.

Recovered from the site were a pistol, three of its magazines, six bullets, and 25 rounds of AK-series rifle ammunition. However, no arrests were made during the search, which was initiated based on precise intelligence inputs following reports of suspicious movements in the area.

Meanwhile, security forces, including the police, Army, and CRPF, have intensified a separate search mission across the Gurinal, Thathri, and Chatroo forests in the neighboring Kishtwar district.

The operation, launched on Thursday, was prompted by information from local residents who reported the possible presence of suspected terrorists in the upper reaches. However, officials confirmed that no direct contact had been made with the individuals in question so far.
