SRINAGAR – A labourer from Uttar Pradesh was injured in a terrorist attack in the Tral region of Pulwama district on Thursday morning. Shubam Kumar, a 19-year-old resident of Bijnor and son of Pritambar Singh, sustained a gunshot wound to his hand when terrorists opened fire in Batagund village, Tral.

Kumar was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition. This incident marks the third attack targeting non-local workers in Kashmir within a week, raising serious concerns about the safety of migrant labourers in the region.

Earlier this week, on Sunday, six migrant workers and a local doctor were killed in a terrorist attack at a construction site in Ganderbal district. Additionally, on October 18, a labourer from Bihar was shot and killed by terrorists in Shopian.

These repeated attacks have sparked fear and anxiety among the non-local workforce in Kashmir, who are essential to various sectors, including construction and agriculture. Authorities are urged to enhance security measures and ensure the protection of these vulnerable workers.

The local administration has condemned the attacks and assured that efforts are being made to bring the perpetrators to justice. Meanwhile, the injured labourer, Shubam Kumar, continues to receive medical care, and his family has been informed of his condition.
