On his maiden trip to India, United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) chief Csaba Korosi on Monday said that the powerful global body shares the vision with New Delhi on how the world should look in the next seven years.
He was interacting with media persons after his meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, external affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar, and Union power minister RK Singh.
Korosi, a diplomat from Hungary, said called the meetings “very productive”.
However, terrorism was not on the agenda in his meeting with PM Modi, the UNGA president said.
“We have not discussed cross-border terrorism with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. But we are fully aware of the fact that this is an important issue for the world,” he said.
Hailing the Indian government for its active contribution to world affairs, Korosi said, “India has a vision of how this world should look like and what India’s role should look like and change by 2030. We are working very hard to make it happen in the General Assembly.”
UNGA president Korosi is on a three-day official visit to India, starting Sunday. “Namaste, India! Glad to be in New Delhi, to commence my first bilateral visit as PGA (president of the General Assembly),” he tweeted on his arrival.
He is scheduled to hold an interaction with scientists at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru on Tuesday and attend a dinner hosted by the Karnataka governor in his honour.
