TENNESSE, USA: With the presidential election just days away, women in Tennessee are expressing sharply divided opinions on the two candidates, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Rohan Dua, Executive Editor at The New Indian, took to the streets to gauge local sentiment, encountering women with strong views on both sides.

The New Indian started with Susan Wiser, a Democrat from Denver, who passionately supports Harris. โ€œKamala, absolutely. Sheโ€™s going forward, not back,โ€ Susan said with conviction. When asked about Trump, she waved off the idea, emphasizing her preference for a candidate who, she feels, embodies progress.

Next, The New Indian encountered Mary, another Harris supporter, who hoped โ€œto goodnessโ€ that Harris would win. โ€œWe need to go forward. He [Trump] wasnโ€™t good enough four years ago, and he still isnโ€™t,โ€ she remarked. Addressing allegations against Biden, Mary defended the current administration, arguing, โ€œBiden has brought the economy up; weโ€™re much better off than we were.โ€

On the other hand, Natalie, a local baker, staunchly backs Trump. โ€œIโ€™m going to go for Trump,โ€ she said confidently. โ€œPeople are really starting to see that Kamala is not fit to be president. We had a great economy under Trump; I donโ€™t understand why anyone would want the same economy weโ€™ve had these last four years.โ€

The New Indian then asked Natalie her opinion of Harris, to which she replied, โ€œI think she doesnโ€™t have it together. Sheโ€™s a terrible speaker and canโ€™t answer questions clearly. Especially when it comes to the economy she has no answers. The thought of her in front of world leaders is honestly scary.โ€

Discussing Trumpโ€™s qualities, Natalie was pragmatic. โ€œHeโ€™s not a likable guy, but he gets things done. Heโ€™s confident and not intimidated by anyone,โ€ she said. When pointed out that Trumpโ€™s image as a strong leader is juxtaposed with some of his more controversial actions, Natalie brushed it off, โ€œHe knows what it takes to improve Americaโ€™s economy. As a businessman, he understands business needs.โ€
