PATNA: Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav and state BJP chief Samrat Chaudhary have fought it out publicly over the issue of illegal Bangladesh migrants, with the former daring the BJP to touch Muslims.
On Thursday, Chaudhary โ a firebrand young BJP leader โ said that the state had been plagued by rampant crimes and illegal migration, and vowed to drive out illegal Bangladeshi migrants when the party comes to power in the state.
During a visit to Purnia, the BJP leader said, โWe will systematically deport Bangladeshis from Bihar. I guarantee that not a single Bangladeshi will be seen under the BJPโs rule. No terrorists will be found either.โ

Accusing Yadavโs father and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav of bringing goonda raj in Bihar, Chaudhary said, โIf you want peace to prevail in this entire border region, we need to systematically drive out Bangladeshis.โ
Without taking his name, deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, while addressing a programme in Patna on Friday, sought to assure minorities about their safety and security.
โNo one โ no matter how powerful โ can drive away people belonging to other religions,โ he said, vowing to stop Prime Minister Narendra Modiโs influence in Bihar.
He further said, โJust as Lalu stopped (Lal Krishna) Advaniโs chariot, the Mahagathbandhan government, under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar, will stop Modi.โ
โBe it Hindus, Muslims or any other religious community, all had fought for the countryโs Independence,โ he added.

Yadav further criticized the central BJP government, alleging that it resorted to targeting Muslims whenever it faced failures. He emphasized the unity of all religions in the fight for Indiaโs independence, declaring, โAs long as leaders like Lalu and Nitish Kumar are present, no one has the audacity to take away the voting rights of Muslims.โ
In 1990, Lalu, the then chief minister of Bihar, ordered the arrest of Advani and stopped his rath yatra from entering Bihar, citing threat to the minority community and communal harmony, and the secular character of the nation.
