New Delhi: In a thrilling conclusion to the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2024, Team XSPARK emerged victorious, securing the championship title and a grand prize of ₹60 lakhs from a total prize pool of ₹2 crore. The grand finale took place at the Hitex Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad, attracting over 5,000 spectators, and more than 1 lakh viewership on live streams, despite coinciding with the cricket World Cup finale.

Tournament Overview

BGIS 2024, organized by KRAFTON, marked the third edition of the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series. The league stage ran from May 2nd to June 16th, 2024, featuring multiple rounds of qualifiers and eliminations. Sixteen teams advanced to the offline grand finals in Hyderabad, held from June 28th to June 30th.

Format Highlights

– **League Stage:** Teams competed in three rounds, gradually narrowing down the field.

– **Semi-Finals Week 1:** The top 16 teams from earlier rounds competed.

– **Grand Finals:** The climactic event is held offline in Hyderabad.

The arena featured a super-sized stage set up by KRAFTON India, with 16 teams competing intensely. The atmosphere was electric, with commentators keeping fans engaged as they watched the gameplay on large screens.

Event Highlights

The BGIS 2024 finale also saw the announcement of the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) 2024, unveiling Krafton India’s Esports roadmap for the year. India’s Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra attended the final day, receiving a ₹25 lakh donation for his foundation from the sales of elite passes. Bindra expressed his excitement about the growth of Esports in India and highlighted the similarities in dedication required between traditional sports and Esports.

Key Results

– Champion: Team XSPARK – ₹60 lakh prize.

– Second Place: Global Esports – ₹30 lakh prize.

– Third Place: Reckoning Esports – ₹20 lakh prize.

– MVP of BGIS: Ninjaboii Global Esports – ₹2.50 lakh prize, ‘Most Finishes’ title (₹1 lakh), and ‘Rampage’ award (₹1 lakh).

– Lone Survivor: Robin Mogo Esports – ₹1 lakh prize.

Teams placing 4th to 16th also received prizes ranging from ₹15 lakh to ₹2.50 lakh. The event was live-broadcasted on the YouTube channel of Krafton India Esports in ten languages, including English and Hindi, drawing exceptional responses from BGMI fans and Esports enthusiasts.

Krafton’s Associate Director of Esports, Karan Pathak, congratulated the winners and participants, highlighting BGIS’ commitment to Indian Esports and commending the passion and talent displayed throughout the tournament.
