NEW DELHI – Renowned author and activist Taslima Nasreen has stirred controversy with a cryptic post on X (formerly Twitter), questioning the legitimacy of the current interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus. In her post, Nasreen asserted that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina did not resign and is still alive, thereby labeling the Yunus government as illegal.

Nasreen’s statement comes amid ongoing political turmoil in Bangladesh. The resignation of Sheikh Hasina, which was announced amidst widespread protests and violence, has been a subject of intense debate. While some sources claim Hasina resigned and fled the country, others, including Nasreen, dispute this narrative.

Bangladesh President Shahabuddin said he has no proof that Sheikh Hasina resigned before leaving the country, but law adviser Asif Nazrul accused him of lying about this situation.

Sajeeb Wazed Joy stated that his mother, former Prime Minister Hasina, never officially resigned because she didn’t have time due to protests, and according to the president, she is still considered the prime minister according to the constitution.

The post has garnered significant attention, with many users on X expressing their views on the legitimacy of the interim government. The political landscape in Bangladesh remains highly volatile, with questions about the future direction of the country’s leadership.

Hasina fled to New Delhi after Bangladesh witnessed widespread protests over preferential quotas in government jobs. As the situation unfolds, the international community watches closely, awaiting further developments in this complex political saga.
