The attack, which took place around 10:30 AM on Monday, left one security personnel injured. The injured officer, identified as Moirangthem Ajesh (32) from Bishnupur district, sustained a bullet wound to his right shoulder and has been transported to a hospital in Imphal for treatment.
The death toll has now climbed to five, as one of the critically injured victims, Md Abdur Rajaq, succumbed to his injuries at Raj Medicity in Imphal on Wednesday. Rajaq was a prominent member of Anjuman, a local anti-drug organisation.
The incident has reportedly taken place in Lilong Chingjao where armed miscreants opened fire at people which left four persons dead and fourteen other injured, of whom many are stated to be critical.
