Swati Maliwal’s home attacked, car vandalized; Delhi CM targets LG

In a shocking incident Delhi Commission for Women’s chief Swati Maliwal home in Civil Lines, Delhi was allegedly intruded on by an unknown person. The police have detained the assailant. He is reported to be mentally unstable. The attack took place in the morning. Maliwal and her mother’s car were also vandalised. The duo was not at home when the attack took place.

In a video snippet accessed by The New Indian, the accused is seen wearing women’s clothing and posing for the cameras. The name and credentials of the man are still unknown. “He is being medically examined as he is suspected to be mentally unstable,” said investigating personnel.

Maliwal shared the pictures of the attack on micro-blogging site Twitter. “Just a while back some attacker entered my house and he attacked. Me and my mother’s car broke down badly and tried to enter the house. Thankfully my mother and I were not at home, otherwise I don’t know what would have happened! Whatever you do, I will not be afraid. @DelhiPolice I am complaining,” she tweeted.

Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to express his concern about the incident. Targeting ” worsening law and order situation in the capital” he pleaded with The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinay Kumar Saxena to pay attention to increasing crime in the city.

The attack comes a week after Maliwal had alleged that she was receiving rape threats for opposing Bollywood #MeToo accused Sajid Khan’s participation in the reality TV show Big Boss. “I have been receiving rape threats on Instagram ever since I wrote a letter to the I&B Minister to get #SajidKhan out of Bigg Boss. Obviously they want to stop our work. I am giving a complaint to Delhi Police. Register FIR and investigate. Arrest those who are behind them!,” she tweeted.
