NEW DELHI: In a significant step toward bolstering maritime cooperation, Rear Admiral Garin Golding, Chief of Navy, Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN), is currently on an official visit to India from March 16 to 21. This visit aims to enhance bilateral ties and deepen cooperation between the two Navies through strategic discussions and operational engagements.
RAdm Golding commenced his visit on March 17 by attending the prestigious Raisina Dialogue, a key platform for addressing global security concerns. On March 18, he paid homage to Indiaโs fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial. Following this, he received a ceremonial Guard of Honour and engaged in a bilateral meeting with Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS).
Discussions centered around strengthening naval ties, exploring joint training initiatives, and fostering greater maritime collaboration.
During his visit, RAdm Golding is also scheduled to meet with senior Indian defence officials, including the Chief of the Defence Staff, Chief of the Army Staff, Chief of the Air Staff, and the Defence Secretary. These interactions underline New Zealandโs dedication to enhancing regional security and maritime stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
In Mumbai, RAdm Golding will visit the Western Naval Command, engage with naval personnel, and tour the indigenous destroyer INS Surat. This visit aims to explore future collaboration opportunities in ship maintenance and technological advancements.
A notable highlight of the visit will be the reception onboard HMNZS Te Kaha on March 20, hosted by the Prime Minister of New Zealand. This event symbolizes the growing strength of India-New Zealand maritime ties and reinforces their shared commitment to fostering peace, security, and stability in the region.
