CBI Summons West Bengal Education Secretary Manish Jain, a 1994 batch IAS Officer, in ongoing probe of multicore SSC teachers recruitment scam
KOLKATA: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Manish Jain, the principal secretary of West Bengal’s school education department, for his second appearance in connection with the investigation into irregularities in state government job recruitment. Jain has been asked to appear before the CBI officers at their city office on Thursday morning. The summons comes after Jain’s name emerged during the interrogation of former state minister Partha Chatterjee, who has been arrested in the case.

According to a CBI official, there is substantial evidence suggesting that Jain was aware of the irregularities in the recruitment process. The agency has found several files with Jain’s signatures, indicating his knowledge of the wrongdoing. During his upcoming questioning, Jain will be specifically asked about his involvement in the scam.
The CBI official stated that Jain’s previous appearance at the CBI office lasted over five hours. This time, the agency has prepared a set of questions for Jain related to the ongoing investigation into the recruitment scam.
