NEW DELHI: Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan recently delighted Indian BTS fans with a special Netflix video promoting his latest movie, ‘Dunki’. In the video, Shah Rukh expressed his love for the K-pop sensation BTS, creating a buzz among the Desi Army.

The video opens with SRK humorously attempting to obtain a visa to visit 190 countries on a single document. Despite the visa officer’s rejection, Shah Rukh confidently asserts his global influence, citing the prevalence of the name “Raj” in Britain, a nod to his iconic character in ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’.

The video also playfully references Brexit, with Europe telling the UK to ‘palat,’ and even the Statue of Liberty imitating Shah Rukh’s signature pose.

Indian BTS fans, known as the Desi Army, couldn’t contain their excitement. On social media, fans expressed their joy, with one enthusiast stating, “SRK saying ‘love you BTS.’ This is my Roman empire.” Another fan tweeted, “ABOUT TIME MY HUSBANDS MET MY FIRST LOVE.”

In the promotional video, Shah Rukh cheekily confessed his love for BTS, stating, “Love you BTS,” while flashing the finger heart emoji, a gesture popularized by K-pop idols. This unexpected expression of admiration from the legendary Bollywood actor left fans in a state of euphoria.

The video serves as a promotional tool for SRK’s latest film, ‘Dunki’, which is set to release on Netflix. Describing ‘Dunki’ as one of his most “special” films, Shah Rukh expressed gratitude for being able to share the story globally through the streaming platform.

The movie, focusing on the issue of immigration, features an ensemble cast, including Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, Anil Grover, and Shah Rukh.

“‘Dunki’ is a special film and one that is very close to my heart. We are grateful that we can share this beautiful story with audiences around the world via Netflix. The film is a rollercoaster ride of emotions and I hope this extraordinary journey of a group of friends wins hearts globally,” said Khan.

‘Dunki’ explores the challenges of immigration, symbolised by the term “donkey journey,” referring to the perilous routes people take to reach desired destinations. Despite receiving mixed reviews, ‘Dunki’ has contributed to Shah Rukh Khan’s string of back-to-back hits.

SRK’s recent success and playful interaction with the Desi Army demonstrate his enduring influence and appeal across various demographics. As the Bollywood legend continues to engage with global pop culture phenomena like BTS, his relevance remains unassailable, affirming his status as not only the “King of Bollywood” but also a cultural icon with a finger on the pulse of contemporary trends.
