SRINAGAR: Authorities in Srinagar have apprehended six individuals accused of fueling sectarian tensions through offensive comments. The accused have been detained at Central Jail Srinagar under stringent legal provisions.   Issuing a public advisory, the Srinagar Police urged all social media users to exercise caution and maintain responsible online conduct. Citizens have been specifically advised against sharing or amplifying any material that could incite sectarian discord or disrupt communal harmony.   “Srinagar Police, via its cyber division, is actively surveilling online platforms to identify and curb any content designed to destabilize societal peace. Violators will face strict action as per the law,” stated Imtiyaz Hussain, Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar.   ALSO READ: Omar Abdullah’s praise for PM Modi triggers social media storm   The arrested individuals face charges under Sections 126 and 170 of the BNSS Act, which pertain to offenses related to incitement and disruption of public order. These individuals were taken into custody for making derogatory remarks aimed at provoking sectarian unrest.   “The public is hereby cautioned that anyone found participating in similar illegal acts, including spreading sectarian content or attempting to create divisions, will face severe legal consequences.
