NEW DELHI: Former Chief Minister Champai Soren has accused current Chief Minister Hemant Soren of spying on him, leading to an FIR and the detention of two officers from the Jharkhand Police who found themselves in custody after allegedly spying on former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren. However, their detention was short-lived, as it became evident that they were merely following standard protocol.
According to reliable sources, the sub-inspectors were closely monitoring Soren’s movements, which led to their apprehension and subsequent questioning at the Chanakyapuri police station. Fortunately, a thorough examination of their credentials and intentions revealed that they were legitimate officers on official duty.

Assam’s Chief Minister, Hemanta Biswa Sarma claimed that the two Jharkhand Police officers were caught spying on Champai Soren in New Delhi, allegedly working for a senior official in their state. They were taking photos of Soren’s hotel room when caught by his aides. Soren had recently met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the officers were said to be tracking his movements as part of a possible plan to trap him.

Sarma revealed that sub-inspectors followed Soren during a trip to Delhi, acting on orders from a high-ranking official, and suggested that a former chief minister was spying on him, raising concerns about Soren’s privacy and status as a tribal leader.

Sarma criticized the ruling JMM-Congress coalition for not truly protecting the Constitution, while Champai Soren announced his switch to the BJP after feeling disrespected in his previous role as chief minister. Soren, who met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, expressed a desire to start fresh in politics.

A senior police official, speaking anonymously to The New Indian, clarified that the sub-inspectors belonged to the Special Branch of the Jharkhand Police. Their presence in Delhi was part of routine duty, as the Chief Minister was staying in the city. Unfortunately, their actions raised suspicions, prompting a complaint to the local police.
While no official statement has been issued by the police, this incident underscores the importance of accurate information and effective communication among law enforcement agencies. Vigilance is essential, but so is ensuring that officers can perform their duties without unnecessary hindrance.
