Sports City Cases: Noida Authority forms panel

Summary

The Noida authority has formed a panel to handle Allahabad high court orders on Sports City cases. Developers must clear dues before selling apartments, while homebuyers await possession.

NEW DELHI: The Sports City cases have led the Noida authority to set up a four-member panel to handle Allahabad high court orders related to these housing projects.

The high court issued multiple orders on February 24, 2025. These orders concern three land allotments made between 2011 and 2014.

The panel, led by additional CEO Satish Pal, includes chief legal advisor RP Gupta, chief finance controller Swatantra Kumar, and chief architect Ishtiyaq Ahmed.

The team will ensure compliance with court orders. There are at least a dozen court rulings related to Sports City projects.

Some rulings direct probes by the Enforcement Directorate and Central Bureau of Investigation. Others mandate the recovery of dues from realtors.

The court orders cover projects in sectors 78, 79, 101, and 150. Developers include Xanadu Estate, Logix Infra Developers, and Lotus Greens Constructions.

Realtors Ordered to Pay Dues

Officials say the panel will prepare a list of realtors who owe dues. Developers will receive notices demanding payments.

Only those clearing dues will get occupancy certificates for completed towers.

The authority also banned the transfer of companies or sale of plots before developers complete 70% of sports facilities.

Developers cannot sell apartments until sports facilities are developed.

At least 50,000 homebuyers have waited over a decade for their flats.

Manmeet Singh, a buyer, said, โ€œWe hope the state and Noida authority ensure justice for homebuyers waiting for registry and possession.โ€

The authority has served notices to realtors under the Sports City scheme.

Realtors must pay land dues, penalties, and hiked 64.7% component within a month.

Failure to comply will lead to action as per Allahabad high court orders related to Sports City cases.
