New Delhi: Special Olympics World Winter Games will witness a strong Indian contingent as Special Olympics Bharat hosted a grand send-off ceremony for the 49-member squad at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.

 

The Indian delegation, comprising 30 athletes and 19 support staff, is set to compete in six disciplines: Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Floorball, Short-track Speed Skating, Snowboarding, and Snowshoeing.

The prestigious global event, scheduled from March 8 to March 15 in Turin, Italy, will bring together 1,500 athletes from 102 countries.

 

A Grand Send-Off for Indiaโ€™s Special Athletes

 

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya attended the send-off ceremony. Dr. Mallika Nadda and Dr. V.K. Mahendru were also present. They encouraged the athletes and wished them success.
