NEW DELHI: India will send a 49-member contingent to the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025 in Turin, Italy. The event will take place from March 8 to March 15.

 

The Indian team includes 30 athletes and 19 support staff. They will compete in six sportsโ€”Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Floorball, Short-track Speed Skating, Snowboarding, and Snowshoeing.

The 12th edition of the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025 will feature eight sports. Over 1,500 athletes from 102 countries will compete. The event is expected to have more than 100,000 spectators.

 

Indiaโ€™s Strong Record at the Winter Games

 

India has a proud history in the Special Olympics World Winter Games. Over the years, Indian athletes have won 167 medalsโ€”73 gold, 49 silver, and 45 bronze.

Apart from competitions, the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025 will host special programs. These include the Global Youth Leadership Summit, Healthy Athletes Screenings, and the Motor Activity Training Program.

 

Special Olympics Bharat is recognized by the Government of India as a National Sports Federation. It promotes sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The organization has 1.5 million registered athletes across India.
