LUCKNOW: Swami Prasad Maurya on Friday after joining the Samajwadi Party slammed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister for his 80 versus 20 statement and said that it is 85 versus 15 and even in 15 per cent there is division.

Addressing the crowd at the Samajwadi Party (SP) headquarters in the presence of party supremo, Akhilesh Yadav, Maurya said, “Today I have joined Samajwadi Party. And today we all are taking pledge to defeat the BJP.”

Maurya also said that this Makar Sankranti will write history of the downfall of the BJP.
He said that the BJP’s top leaders have been in deep slumber for long and did not have time to speak to ministers and MLAs. “They have now woken up after our resignations,” he said.

Taking a swipe at the BJP for taunting the party MLAs and ministers for not resigning five years ago, he said, “I want to tell them that BJP has cheated the poor, downtrodden, minorities and occupied power in the state. They took the name of KP Maurya and SP Maurya. They thought of bringing a Skylar from Ghazipur which failed and then they brought another Skylar from Gorakhpur and appointed him as Chief Minister.

The Dalits and backwards formed the government but they made someone else Chief Minister to take the benefit.

Hitting out at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his 80 versus 20 statement, Maurya said, “Now it is 85 versus 15. As 85 is ours and there is division in 15.”

“I am warning the BJP as they have said that they will contest elections on Hindutva. I want to ask rhem as they gave appointment to 19,000 general candidates while you left 50,000 backwards. Were these backwards not Hindus?” Maurya asked.

He also alleged that the BJP is giving the government departments to the private hands to do away with reservation.

In Uttarakhand, the BJP changed the Chief Minister thrice but the party leadership remained silent in Uttar Pradesh despite Hathras, Lakhimpur Kheri and several other serious cases coming to the fore, he said, adding that as a Minister he raised concern about the law and order situation in Gorakhpur after seven people were killed.

“BJP will soon be thrown out of power in the state,” Maurya said, adding that he has not formed a party but has the support of people.

Maurya said, “I have joined hands with Akhilesh Yadav as he is literate and is young. With you will defeat BJP in the state.”
He also said that he supported Mayawati as a chief minister until he was with her party. “But once I left the party, I can see that she has been unable to recover,” Maurya added.

“After I left the BJP several people are leaving the party. And this trend will continue,” he said.
Another BJP Minister Dharam Singh Saini, who joined the Samajwadi Party, said, “I would like to thank the Samajwadi Party for inducting me in the party fold. And on  March 10 we will get Akhilesh Yadav elected as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

He also said that due to Covid pandemic protocol and due to model code of conduct we have to organise programme at part office. If it were not the case then at least 10 lakh people would have been there today.
Saini said that he was thrice a MLA in BSP and a minister. “I was also there in BJP but the kind of brotherhood you have given is not present in any other party,” he said.
