LUCKNOW: Upping the ante against Yogi Adityanath’s government in Uttar Pradesh over the law and order situation, Samajwadi Party has decided to send one delegation to Kannauj to meet the family members of a 10-year old girl who was murdered after the alleged rape.
Interestingly, Kannauj was the parliamentary constituency of the Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s wife Dimple Yadav.
Dimple had lost the 2019 Lok Sabha elections to BJP’s Subrat Pathak.
In a statement, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said that on instructions of Akhilesh Yadav, a delegation of the party will visit Kannauj on May 26.
Chaudhary said that the party delegation will meet the family members of a 10-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped and murdered on the intervening night of May 18-19.
He said that the party leaders will demand a thorough probe into the case.
After losing in the 2022 assembly polls in the state, the Samajwadi Party chief is leaving no stone unturned to revive the party in the state.
Akhilesh resigned as Lok Sabha MP after he won in the assembly elections from the Karhal assembly seat.
The move is being seen as a bid to revive the party’s fortunes in Kannauj, which was represented by his wife Dimple twice between 2012 to 2019.
