Sonia Gandhi Out From Hospital

NEW DELHI: Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, who tested positive for Covid earlier this month, was on Monday discharged from a hospital here, party leaders said.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh took to Twitter and wrote, “Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi has been discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital this evening and advised to rest at home.”

Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on June 12 due to Covid-related issues.

On Friday, Ramesh said that Sonia Gandhi developed profuse bleeding from the nose following a recent COVID infection after her admission to the hospital on June 12.

Ramesh, who is also a former union minister and Rajya Sabha MP said, “She was immediately put under treatment and underwent a related follow-up procedure on the morning of June 16. A fungal infection in her lower respiratory tract was also detected upon her admission.”

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned Sonia Gandhi for questioning before it on June 8 in connection with the National Herald case. However, she tested positive for COVID and asked the investigating agency for another date.

The ED has asked her to appear on June 23 in connection with the case.
