Soldier killed in terrorist attack on Jammu military base

SRINAGAR: A soldier lost his life after terrorists launched an attack on a military base in Jammu’s Sunjwan on Monday morning.

 

The incident occurred around 11:00 AM, with gunfire directed at the Guard Post, operated by the 36 Infantry Brigade. In response, army personnel initiated a search operation and utilized drones to bolster their efforts in the region.

 

One soldier sustained critical injuries at the Sunjwan military base in Jammu after terrorists fired from a distance outside the facility. The soldier later succumbed to his injuries. Search operations are underway to locate the attackers,” defence officials reported.

On Thursday, the Indian Army successfully neutralized three terrorists attempting to breach the Line of Control (LoC) in the Machhal and Tangdhar sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.

 

“Reliable information was obtained from intelligence agencies, which was further validated by J&K Police regarding potential infiltration attempts from these regions. Based on this intelligence, units of the Indian Army, JKP, and BSF set up ambushes along probable infiltration routes in both the Machhal and Tangdhar sectors,” an official statement said.

On the evening of August 28, suspicious activity was detected, prompting an exchange of fire that continued into the morning of August 29.

 

This marks the 6th operation in the Kupwara district this year, resulting in the elimination of 10 terrorists, including foreign infiltrators.
