NEW DELHI : In a significant step towards harnessing the power of solar energy and fostering gender equality, the International Solar Alliance (ISA) proposed its “Solar For She” initiative during the curtain raiser event for the sixth International Solar Alliance, held at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
The initiative is geared towards empowering women entrepreneurs in the renewable energy sector and achieving the vision of universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy.
Ajay Mathur, the Director General of the International Solar Alliance, emphasised the importance of inclusive projects such as “Solar She” and the Green Hydrogen Innovation Programme.
The primary objective is to encourage and support women to venture into the renewable energy sector, where opportunities are abundant”.
Renewable Energy and Power Minister RK Singh, who also addressed the International Solar Alliance, underscored the advantages of solar energy. He stated, “We find that among the various renewables, solar energy has the edge.

“It is much more reliable, dependable, and available for more months in a year. For universal energy access, solar energy is the solution.”
India’s commitment to making solar energy more accessible and dependable is evident in this statement.
ISA Secretary Bhupinder Singh Bhalla pointed out the remarkable growth of the International Solar Alliance. Since 2018, the number of countries signing and ratifying the ISA Framework Agreement has doubled, reaching an impressive count of 94.
Director General Ajay Mathur reiterated the pivotal role of solar energy in achieving ambitious targets. He mentioned the goal of tripling renewable energy capacity by 2030, as emphasized by the COP28 Presidency. It is evident that solar energy is poised to be a cornerstone in achieving these targets.

The Sixth Assembly of the International Solar Alliance is scheduled to take place in New Delhi, India, from October 30 to November 2. This assembly will be under the leadership of R.K. Singh, the Minister for Power, New and Renewable Energy. It will bring together ministers, missions, delegates, and representatives from 116 countries.
