NEW DELHI: Days after the arrest of Ankit Sirsa and Sachin Bhiwani, the suspected assassins of Punjabi Singer Sidhu Moosewala, Delhi Police Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) HGS Dhaliwal said that they used to boast on social media.

Sirsa had shot Moosewala multiple times and was completely influenced by Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang. The accused were arrested on Monday from Kashmere Gate in Delhi.

“He was very much inspired by social media. Perhaps that is the reason why he clicked his own pictures with firearms and live cartridges and also posted those pictures on social media. He wanted to make a mark in the industry of crime and get noticed in the eyes of gang lords,” Dhaliwal told The New Indian in an exclusive interview.

Dhaliwal said that gangsters and criminals know how to influence the youth through social media. The gang lords boast about their criminal activities by posting pictures of arms and ammunition on Facebook and Instagram, manipulating youth to engage in criminal activities.

Dhaliwal also revealed that attackers were equipped with highly sophisticated weapons that might have been transported from abroad. The use of AK 47 has been established but the use of AN 94 is yet to be established by the Delhi Police Special Cell.

Talking about the threats and the murder attempt on Bollywood actor Salman Khan and his lawyer, Dhaliwal said that there’s no substantial evidence to link the direct involvement of Lawrence Bishnoi. “There is the possibility of involvement of his associates. Although the Maharashtra Police must be looking into it,” Dhaliwal added.

The Special Commissioner of Police also acknowledged that many gangsters are still very much active in the Delhi-NCR region.

Dhaliwal also commented on extortion calls given to Aam Aadmi Party leaders, “With meticulous efforts, we managed to nab most of them. We keep on checking and arresting them. Our teams are still working on it.”
