Delhi Deputy Chief minister and Public Works Department minister Manish Sisodia approved three projects worth ₹17.79 crore that will provide a smooth commuting experience to the people of Delhi.

The projects include strengthening Anuvrat Marg in the South Division, strengthening and raising the road from Deenpur to Kaccha Talab and Tajpur Mod to the Police Checkpost on Goyala Deenpur Road and remodelling the drain along GT Road.

The projects on Goyala Deenpur Road and GT Road will also help the government reduce the instances of waterlogging during the monsoon season in the said areas.

“It is the vision of Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to make the infrastructure of Delhi beautiful, safe and world-class. The government is working in mission mode to strengthen and improve the infrastructure across the city,” Sisodia said.

To make the roads of Delhi world-class, the government is also getting the assessment of roads done by experts and preparing a blueprint for them, Delhi Dy CM added.

He also directed the officials to follow the global standards for street design and ensure compliance with all safety and security standards during the maintenance work on roads.

Sisodia further added that the Delhi government is working in a phased manner to strengthen the roads in Delhi.

“As these roads were constructed a long time ago, the quality of the roads has deteriorated in these areas, which is affecting the commuters. Following the same, the maintenance and beautification work of roads has begun,” Sisodia said.

“To avoid any further inconvenience to the commuters, PWD officials have been asked to complete the work in the stipulated time,” the PWD minister added.

The road strengthening project on Anuvrat Marg will cost ₹7.82 crores for 2.50 km and the strengthening and raising of Goyala Deenpur Road will cost ₹8.07 crores for 4.2 km.

“Strengthening work on these two stretches includes maintenance and upkeep of pavements, central verges and service lanes of the entire road stretch, as well as other allied works such as lane marking, white-washing of parapet walls, painting of kerbstones/railings, etc.,” Sisodia said.

Regarding Goyala Deenpur road, which is in a low-lying area, the government has asked the PWD to raise the height of the road to eliminate the issues of waterlogging in the area during monsoon season.

Another project approved by Deputy CM includes remodelling of the drain alongside GT road from opposite Mansarovar Park to Kendriya Vidyalaya at the cost of ₹1.90 crores. The project will help in eliminating the issue of waterlogging in adjacent colonies as well as on the road.
