Six terrorists killed in twin encounters in Kulgam

SRINAGAR: Security forces successfully neutralized six terrorists in twin encounters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday, officials reported.

In the Chinigam Frisal encounter, the slain terrorists were identified as Zahid Ahmad Dar of Dessan Kulgam and Yawar Bashir Dar of Redwani. The first encounter took place in Modergam village, where Lance Naik Pradeep Nain, a para commando, was killed in action.

Acting on intelligence input, security forces launched the operation and cornered at least two to three terrorists in their hideout. Two terrorists were killed in this encounter.

Terrorists killed at the Chinnigam Frisal Kulgam encounter have been identified by their family members as:
1.Zahid Ahmad Dar S/o Ghulam Mohd R/o Dessan Kulgam.
2.Yawar Bashir Dar S/o Bashir Ahmad R/o Redwani Bala Kulgam.
3.Tawheed Ahmad Rather S/o Abdul Satar R/o Audoora Kulgam.
4. Shakeel Ahmad Wani S/o Mohd Shareef R/o Khurbatpora D.H Pora Kulgam.

The second gunfight erupted in Frisal Chinnigam village after security forces received a tip-off about the presence of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in the area. During this operation, Havaldar Raj Kumar of the 1st Rashtriya Rifles lost his life. Upon reaching the village, security forces came under fire from terrorists hiding in a house, sparking an intense gunfight that resulted in the deaths of four terrorists.

Chinar Corps Commander, J&K Chief Secretary, J&K DGP and other senior security officials paid homage to the deceased. “Chinar Warriors salute the valour and sacrifice of both brave hearts. We stand in solidarity with the bereaved families & are committed to their well-being,” an Army spokesman said.

DGP R.R. Swain commented on the Kulgam encounter, saying, “The encounter, in which six terrorists were killed, marks a significant milestone that has strengthened the overall security environment. These anti-terrorist operations, along with the flow of information from the general public, are evidence that this fight against the enemy will be brought to a logical conclusion.”
