Jammu and Kashmir Special Investigation Unit (SIU) in its continuing investigation of different ULPA cases, after Pampore and Kulgam districts, carried out searches at two places on Saturday.
Police said that searches were conducted in Sheeraz Colony Ganie Near Ration Ghat Soura and Shalbaf Mohalla New Colony Jinab Sahab Anchar Soura.
Police said that raids were conducted “to dismantle and disturb the nexus between terrorists and their associates”.
“The raids were conducted with the help of the administration and the police station concerned after getting proper search warrants from competent courts,” the police official said.
Reportedly, the SIU recovered various incriminating materials, which are being investigated, during those raids.
“Such raids are made under advisory from senior formations of the J&K Police department and need to be conducted on the basis of technical and scientific grounds so as to conclude UL(P)A cases in the interest of justices. The raids will continue in future also for the logical conclusion of all UL(P)A cases,” the official explained.
Meanwhile, Srinagar police on Saturday arrested third accused in the sextortion case in which a university student was sedated, raped, blackmailed and trafficked by a self—proclaimed journalist. The arrested accused is an associate of Nadeem Nadu and is working in PHE department.
“Third accused arrested in rape, blackmailing and extortion case namely Showkat Ahmad Ragoo , resident of Anantnag. He is an associate of Nadeem Nadu and working in PHE (public health engineering) department. Two self styled Journalists have already been arrested in this case,” said Srinagar police in a tweet.
Earlier, two self-styled journalists – Nadeem Nadu and Salman Shah – have already been arrested by Srinagar police following a complaint by the girl.
