Sirsa alleges Kejriwal prioritizes Muslim votes over Hindu-Sikh refugees

NEW DELHI: Delhi’s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, held a press conference to voice his opposition to the CAA, prompting the BJP to label him as anti-Hindu and anti-Sikh. BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa took to his social media account to criticize Kejriwal, accusing him of spewing venom against Hindu and Sikh refugees from these countries. Sirsa’s post highlighted Kejriwal’s alleged bias, contrasting his support for Rohingya refugees with his stance on Hindu and Sikh refugees.

Kejriwal’s press conference on Wednesday was a direct attack on the BJP and the central government, accusing them of using the CAA to expand their voter base by bringing minorities from neighboring countries to India.

He warned that the CAA poses a threat to the nation, arguing that the government is failing to provide jobs and housing to its citizens while promising the same to people from Pakistan. Kejriwal suggested that the BJP might extend the 2024 deadline to benefit from the upcoming elections and warned that once the door is open, a massive influx of impoverished people from the three countries will flood into India.

“Rahul Gandhi opposed the Ram Mandir to attract votes from a particular community, which is why Arvind Kejriwal is speaking against Hindu and Sikh refugees. Kejriwal claims that migrant Hindus and Sikhs are a threat to our security, so why doesn’t he say such things about Rohingya Muslims?” said Sirsa.

A huge delegation of members of the Sikh and Hindu community from Pakistan and Afghanistan who have settled in India met BJP National Secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Wednesday and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for implanting the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) granting them Indian citizenship and other facilities at par with Indians.

The Indian political landscape has been stirred by the recent implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), which the Parliament passed in December 2019. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government enforced the law just before the Lok Sabha elections, sparking widespread political debate. The CAA aims to grant citizenship to non-Muslim refugees from neighbouring countries Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan who have faced religious persecution.
