Batting first, PBKS got off to a flying start with debutant Priyansh Arya smashing 47 off 23 balls. Shreyas Iyer then took charge, delivering a captain’s knock of 97* off 42 balls, studded with nine sixes and five fours. His partnerships with Marcus Stoinis (20) and Shashank Singh (44* off 16 balls) propelled PBKS to their second-highest IPL total. Shashank’s explosive finish, including 23 runs in the final over, was pivotal. GT’s Sai Kishore impressed with figures of 3/30, while Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada chipped in with a wicket each.

Sai Sudharsan‘s 74 off 41 balls and Jos Buttler’s 54 off 33 balls. Captain Shubman Gill provided a fiery start with 33 off 14 balls. Despite their efforts, GT fell short, managing 232/5 in 20 overs. PBKS’ bowlers, led by Arshdeep Singh (2/36), executed a brilliant strategy of bowling wide yorkers outside off-stump in the death overs, denying GT the boundaries they needed. Impact player Vijaykumar Vyshak and Marco Jansen also bowled crucial overs, keeping the pressure on GT.
