Accused Aftab Ameen Poonawala refused to marry his girlfriend Shraddha Walker, leading frequent quarrels between them.

The findings of the polygraph and narco-analysis tests conducted on accused Aftab Amin Poonawalla and the DNA test carried out on bones and jaw recovered from the jungle of Mehrauli during searches for victim Shraddha Walker’ body part are likely to be submitted to the Delhi Police this week.

According to sources in the forensic department, the test reports have been prepared and will soon be handed over to the Delhi Police, which is investigating the brutal crime.

Aftab was arrested by the Delhi Police in November for killing his girlfriend Shraddha in a rented accommodation in Mehrauli area of South Delhi. He admitted to the police to have chopped her body parts into 35 pieces and thrown them in different parts of the Mehrauli jungle.

A narco test was done on him at Delhi’s Baba Bhim Rao Ambedkar Hospital by the panel of five psychologists and doctors. His polygraph test was conducted at the Delhi Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) situated in Rohini.

In his polygraph test, Aaftab had admitted having killed Shraddha. Conducted under ‘yes’ or ‘no’ pattern, doctors asked more than two dozen questions to him during the test.

During the narco test on December 1, he told the panel that he murdered Shraddha in a fit of rage. He had given long answers during the test, sources told The New Indian.

“Reports of both the tests have almost been completed and are likely to be submitted to investigators this week,” said a source, adding that findings will help the Delhi Police collect more evidence against accused Aftab.

However, findings of the narco and polygraph tests are not admissible in the court of law.

Besides, the DNA report conducted on the body parts and broken jaw is also being prepared by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL). It is also in the final stage and could be submitted to the Delhi Police soon, added the source.

After his arrest on November 12, Aftab told the police that he killed Shraddha in the month of May following a tiff. He murdered the Mumbai woman days after moving into a flat with her as live-in partner.

Before moving to Delhi, the couple lived together for several months. According to the police, Aftab would often beat her up during their stay in Mumbai. She had informed her mother and friends about the repeated assaults on her, but never filed any complaint with the police.
