NEW DELHI: Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and a five-time Member of Parliament (MP), is poised for his sixth term in Parliament after winning the Vidisha constituency by an impressive margin of 817,479 votes.

According to the latest update from the Election Commission of India (ECI) on their official website, Chouhan, a four-term Chief Minister, has amassed over 1 million votes, significantly ahead of the Indian National Congress’ (INC) Pratap Bhandu Sharma, who has garnered 900,000 votes.

Chouhan was a key figure in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s campaign as Chief Minister during the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Elections. However, despite the BJP forming the government in the central Indian state, the 65-year-old was not selected for another term as Chief Minister; instead, the party chose Mohan Yadav for the position.
