SRINAGAR: The Kashmiri Pandit community on Sunday said that a Shivling has been stolen from Chandrisamin temple in Googledara area of Anantnag in southern Kashmir. They have urged the authorities for renovation and complete facelift of the temple. Chandrisamin temple in Googledara area of Anantnag is also known as Chota Amarnath.
A group of people, who went for pilgrimage at the temple, said that the Shivling at the temple has been stolen. They said it is for the second time that the Shivling has been stolen. “We went there on Sunday and did not find the Shivling,” they told The New Indian.
They said that they were happy to visit the temple but returned disappointed after they saw the Shivling stolen. The group said that they spoke to locals in the area who feigned ignorance about the theft. They met the deputy commissioner and other officials. They have threatened to hit the streets if the Shivling is not recovered. Officials said that the matter has come to their notice and it will be looked into at the earliest.
