NEW DELHI: The government on Tuesday appointed senior IPS officers Sheel Vardhan Singh and Atul Karwal as chiefs of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), respectively.
“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for the appointment of Sheel Vardhan Singh, Special Director in IB, to the post of DG, CISG, in level 17 of pay metrics from the date of joining the post up to 31.08.2023 that is date of his superannuation or till further order, whichever is earlier,” the notification issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet read.

Sheel Vardhan Singh is a 1986 batch Indian Police Service officer of Bihar cadre. He was the Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau.
Karwal, a 1988 batch IPS officer of Gujarat cadre, has been appointed as the Director General of NDRF. He is presently working as Director, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad.
“ The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for appointment of Atul Karwal, IPS (GJ: 88) presently working as Director, SVP NPA in Level-16 of the pay matrix to the post of Director General, NDRF by temporarily upgrading the post of Director General, NDRF to the level of DG on personal basis for a period of two years from the date of joining the post or till further orders, whichever is earlier,” read the order.
